Full HD 1080p Broadcasting

Dyyno is the industry’s first 1080p HD online video platform. With the Dyyno Universal Broadcaster, you can broadcast to thousands of viewers with full 1080p HD video quality.

Please follow these steps to get started broadcasting in 1080p HD video quality:

1. Make sure you have the necessary HD components installed – Your computer will need to have an HD video card installed in order to capture HD video. We recommend installing Black Magic’s Intensity Pro video card (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/). You will also need an HD camcorder that can capture at 1080p and an HDMI cable.

2. Connect your HDMI cable. Connect the HDMI cable from your camcorder to your computer.

3. Start the Dyyno Video program. Go to Start --> All Programs --> Dyyno Universal Broadcaster --> Run Dyyno Video. You will see the Dyyno Video program appear with two options: 1) Broadcast media file, or 2) Broadcast Webcam/Video

4. Select your video source. Select the Broadcast Webcam/Video option. From the dropdown menu, select your camcorder video source. The Dyyno video program will automatically set the resolution to the video source. So if you are using an HD 1080p camcorder, the resolution will automatically be set to HD 1080p.

5. Select Broadcast. Once you’re done selecting your video source, select Broadcast from the Dyyno Video Program, and then press the play button. You will immediately start streaming your HD broadcast.

Advanced Broadcast Monitoring

The Dyyno Universal Broadcaster monitors and provides dynamic information on the audio, bit rate, and frame rate of your broadcast. You can also view a live stream of your broadcast without affecting your broadcast quality or network usage.

To view this information, follow these steps:

1. Start a broadcast. Drag and drop the "d" icon onto the desktop or application you’d like to share. The orange highlighted border indicates what you wish to share.

2. Share your channel URL. Share your url - dyyno.com/<your username> if you are sharing on Dyyno, or justin.tv/<username> if you are sharing on Justin.tv - so others can access your broadcaster

3. View audio, bit rate and frame rate info on your Dyyno Universal Broadcaster window. As soon as you have at least one viewer watching your broadcast, you will see audio, bit rate and frame rate information appear dynamically on your Dyyno Universal Broadcaster window.

broadcaster labels

A. The frame rate section will tell you the frames per second that you are broadcasting
B. The bit rate section will tell you how much uplink bandwidth your network contains (in Kbps)
C. The volume section will tell you how high your audio level is from 0% - no audio being broadcasted– to 100% - 120 dB of audio are being broadcasted.
D. The viewer’s section will tell you how many viewers are watching your broadcast

4. View audio, bit rate and frame rate in "offline" mode. You can also view the monitoring fields when you are working offline (this feature allows you to record a broadcast even if you’re not connected to your internet). In the login window, simply select the "work offline" option and click Work Offline.

offline mode

Once you drag and drop the "d" icon onto the desktop or application you want to broadcast, you will then see the audio and frame rate information appear. Note: The bit rate information is disabled and not shown in offline mode.

View a live stream of your broadcast. To view a live stream of your broadcast, simply select the chat icon that appears on the yellow control bar located on the top right corner of the desktop/app you’re broadcasting.

yellow panel

This will open a browser window that displays the broadcast as your viewers would see it, along with a chat box that lets you chat with your viewers. Even though you are streaming your broadcast live, it will not affect your broadcast quality or network usage.

Broadcast Failover

The broadcast failover feature prevents you from losing viewers if your network goes out, your Dyyno Universal Broadcaster crashes, or the application you are broadcasting crashes.
To resume your broadcast during any such event, follow the steps below:

1. Select Resume from the Dialog Window. In the event of a network loss, broadcaster crash, or application crash, your broadcaster will see the following window appear on the desktop:

persistent session message

The window will ask you to resume or cancel your existing broadcast. Note: Should you choose to cancel, this will stop your existing broadcast, and you will lose any viewers.

Select the resume button. Your viewers will now just see a pause screen.

1. Restart the broadcaster and/or apps you were broadcasting, or check your network setting. For an event crash, restart your broadcaster and/or the desktop/application you were broadcasting. If you’re network is not working, check your network settings to resume your connection.

2. Restart your broadcast again. Drag and drop the Dyyno "d" icon on the desktop/application you were broadcasting. Now your viewers will start seeing your broadcast instead of the pause screen.

Note: If you would like to change your settings mid-broadcast, stop and restart your broadcast. The Broadcast Failover feature will allow you to accomplish this without losing any viewers – please refer to that section in the User Guide .

Recording and Uploading

Offline Recording

Offline recording lets you record without broadcasting live.
To enable offline recording, simply select the Offline Mode checkbox in the login window and click Work Offline.

You will see the Dyyno application window appear. Simply drag and drop the d on the application or desktop you’d like to broadcast, and you will start your recording. Note: You will not be able to record any video from the Dyyno Device Reader (see the Capturing Video or Video File section).

Dynamic MP4 Recording

The Dynamic MP4 recording feature allows you to record your desktop or application broadcast while you’re broadcasting. The recordings are stored locally in your computer as MP4 files. Note: You will not be able to record any video from the Dyyno Device Reader (see the Capturing Video or Video File section).

Follow these steps to enable recording during your live broadcast:

1. Select the "REC" button. During your live broadcast, select the "REC" button from the Dyyno Universal Broadcaster window. This will start recording your broadcast.

When you select the "record play" icon, it will start recording again – thus, the new recording will be appended to your last recording. This allows you to dynamically record different parts of your broadcast all in one MP4 file.

Please note: The pause icon on the right hand side of the Dyyno window will pause both your live stream and the recording. When you press play to resume, both the live stream and recording will continue.

3. Stop your recording. If you would like to stop your recording, simply select the "record stop" icon from the Dyyno Universal Broadcaster window. This will stop the recording and generate an MP4 file. You can continue to record other parts of the broadcast by selecting the "REC" button, but this will be saved in another MP4 file.

4. Access or upload your recordings. Once you are done recording, you can access the MP4 files in your computer. For XP users, go to My Documents --> Dyyno. For Vista and 7 users, go to Documents --> Dyyno.

You can also upload the recordings to your channel by using the Video Uploader (please see the Video Uploader section).
